Registered Practical Nurse

About Us

You can breathe now. Your nurse is here.

Hi, I'm Martine - the nurse behind Cradlelight Care.

I created this service to bring a little peace and practical support to families during one of the most tender (and exhausting) times of their lives. I’m a Registered Practical Nurse with over 10 years of experience in postpartum and newborn care, most of it spent working night shifts at Montfort Hospital. I’ve cared for tiny preemies, tired new parents, C-section recoveries, and everything in between—but nothing compares to being there for families in their own homes. As a single mother, I’ve felt that deep, middle-of-the-night exhaustion. I know how hard it can be to ask for help, especially when you feel like you should be able to do it all. Cradlelight Care was born from that understanding—from my love of showing up gently, consistently, and without judgment when it matters most. I believe every family deserves continuity of care—the comfort of seeing the same calm, capable face that takes the time to understand your baby, your rhythms, and what helps you breathe a little easier, night after night. Whether it’s feeding, diapering, rocking baby back to sleep, or simply being a reassuring presence while you rest, I’m here to help carry the night. This is care that helps you exhale.

Because the fourth trimester needs care too.

Your recovery matters just as much as your baby's care. Alongside tending to your newborn, I am there to support your postpartum healing. Whether you are recovering from a cesarean birth or a complicated delivery, I can help with positioning, comfort measures, and simple suggestions to ease pain or discomfort. My presence is there to give you space to rest, recover, and feel cared for while knowing your baby is in good hands.

Yes, absolutely. As a nurse with extensive breastfeeding experience, I can help with positioning. latching, and offer guidance as needed. If you prefer to bottle-feed expressed milk or formula, I can handle feeds independently while you sleeр.

You can book care as soon as you feel ready-many families reach out during pregnancy to secure their spot. I offer care for newborns up to around 12 weeks of age, with a focus on those delicate early days and weeks.

I currently serve families across Ottawa and parts of Gatineau. If you're unsure whether I cover your neighborhood, feel free to reach out for confirmation.

Light tidying is included when time allows—this might be washing bottles, loading the dishwasher, or folding baby laundry. My priority is your baby's care and your rest, but I'm happy to help ease your load where possible.

I am generally comfortable around animals, but for everyone's safety and comfort, I ask to be informed in advance—especially if there are cats in the home, as I am not comfortable around them. This helps me plan for a calm and secure night for your baby and myself. Thank you for your understanding.

Des mots bienveillants sont en chemin.

Les familles que j’ai eu le privilège d’accompagner témoigneront bientôt ici de leur expérience.
